Anderson Named Atlantic 10 Player Of Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond junior Kevin Anderson was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the second time this season and the fourth time in his career after leading the No. 25 ranked Spiders to a pair of victories.
Anderson averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.5 rebounds while making 17-of-26 shots (.654). He scored 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting and had 5 steals in an 84-56 win over Fordham on Wednesday and had 24 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds in the Spiders' 74-70 win over George Washington in front of 9,025 fans in the Robins Center on Saturday night.
Anderson leads the team and is fifth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 17.5 points per game. He is sixth in the Atlantic 10 in field goal percentage (.464), second in steals (2.0 spg) and third in minutes played (36.4 mpg).
The Atlanta, Ga. native is already 13th on Richmond's all-time scoring list with 1,414 points, just 11 points out of 12th and 13 points out of 11th.
Anderson is also tied for fifth on Richmond's all-time career list with 158 steals, one steal behind teammate David Gonzalvez for fourth.
The No. 25 ranked Spiders are 22-6 and in sole possession of first place in the Atlantic 10 with an 11-2 record, having equaled the highest win total in nine seasons as a member of the A-10. Richmond's 22 wins match the 1985-86 team for the highest regular-season win total in school history.
Richmond was ranked in the Associated Press Top-25 poll last Monday, earning a national ranking for the first time in 24 years and the second time in 52 years. The Spiders won back-to-back games as a ranked for the first time in school history.
The Spiders have the week off before playing at Xavier in a first-place showdown Sunday at 1 p.m. on ESPN2.
