Richmond Gets Win No. 17 With First-Ever Triumph On Hawk Hill

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior David Gonzalvez had 18 points and nine rebounds, while senior Ryan Butler had 15 points and four steals as Richmond won at Saint Joseph's for the first time ever 68-58 on Wednesday night.
Richmond led by as many as 14 in the second half in winning its third-straight and improving to 17-6 overall and 6-2 in the Atlantic 10.
Butler scored 11 of his 15 points in the opening seven minutes with three three-pointers and a fastbreak dunk.
The Spiders, who were 0-7 all-time at Saint Joseph's entering Wednesday's game, but handed Saint Joseph's just its third loss in 10 games at Hagan Arena. Richmond shot 46.6 percent from the field and held the Hawks to 39.6 percent shooting.
Richmond had eight steals and seven turnovers, marking the eighth time this season that the Spiders had more steals than turnovers. Richmond also had has many blocks as turnovers.
Junior Kevin Anderson had nine points and four assists, while junior Kevin Smith had seven points, making all three field goals. Junior Dan Geriot had six points, making 3-of-4 field goals and sophomore Francis-Cedric Martel made 2-of-3 field goals for five points.
Richmond returns home to host No. 17 ranked Temple on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Robins Center.
