Winners of six of their last eight games, Richmond is back on the road Wednesday night to renew its long-time rivalry with Old Dominion. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex in Norfolk.
The two teams split last season's meetings, with the Spiders winning 12-7 at Pitt Field and the Monarchs taking an 11-4 decision in Norfolk. ODU is scheduled to return to Pitt Field on May 18.
The Spiders are back home Friday to open a three-game set with Wagner in their final non-conference weekend of the regular season. Following the Wagner series, Richmond hosts Fordham and Xavier in back-to-back weekends to open Atlantic 10 play.
Third-year head coach Mark McQueen picked up his 50th career victory as Richmond defeated Columbia, 6-3, in the opener of a three-game series last weekend.
Junior DH/RHP Billy Barber was named the College Baseball Insider Regional Pitcher of the Week for his performance last week in collecting two wins and throwing 5.2 scoreless innings of relief in victories over George Mason and Lafayette.
Barber stretched that scoreless innings streak to 9.2 innings, by picking up the first two saves of his career in wins last week over High Point and Columbia -- he also provided the game-winning hit at High Point. He was honored as the A-10 Pitcher of the Week for his efforts.
Richmond is 8-2 this season when scoring first.
