Track & Field Rolls Into Outdoor Season Saturday At Mason

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - The University of Richmond opens the outdoor portion of its 2009-2010 Track & Field schedule Saturday at the Patriot Open hosted by George Mason University. The meet begins at 10 a.m. at Mason Stadium.
Richmond joins Air Force, Georgetown, Towson, Virginia and the host Patriots as the teams competing.
The Spiders enter the 2010 Outdoor Season looking to build on last season's Atlantic 10 Championship finishes as the men took fourth overall in 2009 with the women taking fifth.
Senior Andrew Benford, who ranks among the elite distance runners in the Region, was tabbed the A-10 Most Outstanding Track Performer at last year's Outdoor Championship. He was the first-ever Spider to win the award.
Following Saturday's meet, Richmond is back in action next Saturday at the Maryland Invitational in College Park.
