Richmond is on the road for a midweek non-conference game Wednesday night at Boshamer Stadium in Chapel Hill to battle North Carolina at 6 p.m.
The Tar Heels are one of seven teams on the Spiders' 2010 slate that reached the NCAA Regionals -- and one of two (Virginia) that advanced to the College World Series.
The Spiders had won four-consecutive games to match its longest winning streak of the season before dropping the final two games of the Fordham series -- it marked the first time Richmond hadn't won a three-game series since last May.
Richmond enters the week as the A-10's fourth-best offense (.299 team average), and third-best pitching staff (5.61 team ERA). The Spiders lead the A-10 with 45 stolen bases, are second with 28 homers and have drawn the league's most walks (122).
Junior Billy Barber, who went four-for-five Sunday with a pair of solo home runs, brings a team-best 11-game hitting streak into Wednesday's game. Barber leads the club with his .410 average, seven homers and 27 RBI, along with his team-best 2.06 ERA and three saves.
In the team's meeting at Boshamer Stadium last season, Richmond staged a late rally with eight unanswered run but fell to then-No. 2 UNC, 12-8. The Spiders scored six runs in the sixth, left the bases loaded in the eighth and struck twice more in the ninth but left two more stranded.
Following Wednesday's game at North Carolina, the Spiders are back home to host the reigning A-10 Tournament Champion Xavier at Pitt Field next weekend.
