SHORT HOPS
Richmond remains on the road this weekend, facing Temple in an Atlantic 10 series in Philadelphia. The series is underway Friday at 3 p.m.
Due to impending weather Sunday, the teams will now play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
Richmond sits a 17-18 overall and 4-8 in the A-10, while Temple enters the weekend 5-27, 2-10.
Senior Ian Marshall gets the ball in Friday's series-opener. Marshall is 2-2 on the season (14 appearances, four starts) and owns a 4.93 ERA. Junior Matt Trent (6.70 ERA, 2-4) is in line for Saturday's first game with junior Anthony Cafagna (5.26, 1-3) toeing the rubber in the series finale.
Junior Billy Barber paces the offense with his .415 average, 12 doubles and 40 RBI. Although having his 23-game hitting streak snapped during Tuesday's game at No. 2 Virginia, he still has reached base safely in 32-consecutive games this season.
Senior Evan Stehle has bumped his average to .269 thanks to his current five-game hitting streak. His 18 RBIs is fifth-most on the club.
Following the Temple series, the Spiders will have next week off for exams and then return to action next weekend hosting Saint Joseph's.
