STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Junior Michael Shrader tied for 13th as the Richmond men's golf team tied for eighth at Penn State's Rutherford Intercollegiate, played over the weekend.
The Spiders shot a 922 (301-308-313), tying Delaware for eighth in Richmond's last tune-up before the 2010 Atlantic 10 Tournament, to begin Friday at Mission Inn, Fla.
Shrader shot an even-par 71 in the opening round on his way to a 12-over 225. He shot a 79 in the second round and a 4-over 75 in the final round to tie for 13th.
"It's good to see Michael putting together a solid tournament heading into A-10's," Richmond head coach Adam Decker said. "The greens were fast and the course was playing tough."
Senior Robert Lindstrom tied for 27th at 16-over 229. Lindstrom shot 5-over 76s in the first two rounds and a 77 in the final round.
Junior Sam Beach tied for 37th at 232 (76-76-81) and senior Grant Rafield tied for 64th at 241 (78-78-85). Senior David Feeley took 72nd at 246 (82-84-80).
The Spiders head to Florida this week for the Atlantic 10 Championship, to be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
"We're looking forward to heading down to Florida and seeing if we can make some noise," Decker said.
