Women's Soccer Battles Kennesaw State To Scoreless Draw

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -
The Richmond women's soccer team (1-1-1) battled the Kennesaw State Owls to a 0-0 scoreless draw in the opening game of the Lady Vol Classic Friday evening in Knoxville, Tenn.
Junior goalkeeper Melissa Pacheco recorded a solid game in goal, with seven saves in the net. The Spiders outshot the Owls 20-14, with freshman Becca Wann again notching a team-high four shots.
Richmond held an 8-4 shot advantage in the first half, and continued its aggressiveness in the second half with a 7-4 edge at the end of regulation. Eleven Spiders recorded shots, as LeighAnne Baxter followed Wann's team-high four shots with three tries of her own. The Spiders bested Kennesaw State 5-2 on corner kicks.
Richmond returns to action Sunday at 3 p.m. against host Tennessee in the final game of the Lady Vol Classic.
