
Lovette Finishes 7-Over At Cougar Classic

HANAHAN, S.C. - Sophomore Caroline Lovette tied for 29th and Richmond tied for 17th at the season-opening College of Charleston's Cougar Classic, completed Tuesday.
In a field that included 10 teams from the 2010 NCAA Tournament, Richmond finished ahead of UNC-Greensboro, Miami, Mississippi State and Charleston Southern.
Lovette shot a 75 in the first round, 76 in the second and an even-par 72 in the third round to finish at 7-over-par 223. The sophomore, who won the Spider Invitational last fall in her collegiate debut, put together the second-lowest two-rounds in a tournament in Richmond women's golf history with the opening round 75 and final round 72.
"I am very proud of Caroline, she has worked hard and her efforts have paid off for her," Richmond head coach Jill Briles-Hinton If she continues with her efforts she will be able to maintain her progress and develop into one of Richmond's finest. She has grit and passion and wills the ball in the hole."
Senior Jillian Fraccola tied for 70th at 231 (78-78-75) and sophomore Tracy Martin tied for 77th at 233 (79-76-78).
Senior Christina Gray tied for 90th at 236 (78-77-81) and sophomore Courtney Rousse tied for 96th at 240 (83-78-79).
"Our team posted three very solid rounds," Briles-Hinton said. "They improved by three each day, saving their best round for last. Our two seniors, Christina and Jillian paced the team giving their team the confidence they needed to perform."
Richmond returns to action Oct. 2-3 at Penn State's Nittany Lion Invitational.
