Women's Soccer Hosts Cross-Town Rival VCU Tonight At 7 P.M.

The Richmond women's soccer team hosts cross-town rival VCU Thursday at 7 p.m. at Ukrop Park. The Spiders are coming off a 1-0 victory last Friday against American.
Sophomore LeighAnne Baxter scored the game-winner when she lasered a free kick in the 59th minute over the American defensive wall and into the upper right corner of the net. Emily Dale followed with three.
The Spiders rank first in the A-10 in saves per game (6.14) thanks to junior goalkeeper Andrea Young's stellar play. Young has a team-best 26 saves on the season, good for fifth in the A-10. Young is averaging 5.20 keeps a game which ranks fourth in the conference.
Richmond leads the all-time series, 7-5-2 and holds a 5-2 record when playing at home. The Spiders and Rams battled to a scoreless draw in two overtimes last season. Richmond's last win came in 2008 by a 1-0 score at First Market Stadium.
The Spiders remain at Ukrop Park Sunday for a 2 p.m. contest against the UNC-Wilimington Seahawks.
