THE TEAM
Richmond held Charlotte to 59 points, the seventh time in 16 games that the Spiders have held the opposition under 60 points and the 10th time Richmond has held the opponents to 61 points or less.
The Spiders improved to 7-1 at home, having won 24 of the last 26 games in the Robins Center. Richmond has won all seven of its home games by double-figures and led by at least 13 points in all seven home wins.
Richmond defeated Charlotte for the sixth time in the last seven meetings between the two schools and improved to 8-6 all-time against Charlotte. This was the first time the Spiders had defeated the 49ers by more than seven points.
Richmond had 19 assists, two assists shy of their season of 21 assists in the season opener against The Citadel. The Spiders are averaging 15.6 assists per game.
The Spiders blocked seven shots, the third time this season Richmond has blocked at least seven shots.
Richmond had 11 turnovers, the fifth-straight game the Spiders have had 11 turnovers or less. The Spiders have stayed out of the teens in turnovers in 11 of 16 games.
The Spiders made eight three-pointers, the ninth time this season Richmond has made eight or more three-pointers.
THE PLAYERS
Senior Mike Winiecki (1,031), Spike Welsh (1,033) and Danny Higgins (1,042). With two blocks on the night, Harper has 80 for his career, which moves him into 10th on Richmond's all-time career blocks list.
Senior Kevin Anderson scored 12 points for his 99th career double-figure scoring game, including his 15th in 16 games this season and 92 of his last 97 games. Anderson passed the 1,800-point plateau for his career and sits at 1,809, which is fourth on Richmond's all-time career list. Anderson had six assists, which gives him 349 for his career, passing Gerald Jarmon and moving into sixth on Richmond's all-time career list.
Sophomore Darien Brothers scored 11 points for his seventh career double-figure scoring game, including his fourth in the last seven games.
Freshman Cedric Lindsay tied a career high with five assists.
