The Game
• Richmond and Old Dominion play for the first time ever on the gridiron Saturday afternoon when they meet at Foreman Field at 2 p.m. in Norfolk.
• The Spiders have won their last seven games versus first-time opponents, including a win earlier this season over Wagner.
• Although this is the first game versus ODU, the Spiders have made three previous trips to Foreman Field for Oyster Bowl games and are 2-1 there.
Quick Slants
• Richmond has scored first in six of the eight games this season and is outscoring the opposition 43-28 in the first quarter.
• Senior WR Tre Gray became the Spiders' all-time leader in both receptions and receiving yards vs. Maine, surpassing the 26-year records held by former NASA astronaut Leland Melvin. Gray is third among all active FCS players in career catches (218) and yards (2,830). (Melvin congratulated Gray via Twitter).
• With 916 yards through eight games, Gray is on pace for just the third 1,000-yard season by a receiver in school history. The last time was 1992 when Rod Boothes set the school's single-season record with 1,115 yards.
• Gray leads CAA Football and nationally, is third in catches (8.8/game) and yards (114.5/game) this season.
• Gray and redshirt-frosh Stephen Barnette are the league's top two clutch WRs on third down this season, with Gray converting 14 times on 16 third-down plays, while Barnette is 14 for 14.
• Gray's 70 catches this season set a new single-season record at Richmond.
• Senior QB Aaron Corp has recorded three 300-yard passing games this season and is ranked third in the league (21st FCS) at 247.5 passing yards per game.
• Corp has thrown for 1,980 yards this season and 2,625 in his 13-game career at Richmond, which ranks 10th on the Spiders' all-time list.
• Corp had his streak of 153-consecutive passes without an interception snapped last week versus UMass -- the streak was the FCS's second-longest active.
• Junior LB Darius McMillan has recorded double-digit tackles in seven of the eight games this season and ranks third in the league (11th in the FCS) at 11.3 tackles/game.
• Richmond currently leads the league in both passing defense -- allowing just 186.5 yards/game -- and Red Zone defense (allowing scores just 65.5 percent of the time).
