Wo Men's Soccer Year In Review

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.--Richmond ended its 2011 season with a 13-5-3 mark, its most wins since 2002 and a return trip to the A-10 Tournament.
The Spiders returned to the A-10 Tournament for the first time since 2002. Richmond was downed by eventual champion, Dayton, 2-0, in the semifinal game. Natalie LeClair was named to the All-Tournament team.
For the first time in program history, stellar sophomore Becca Wann was tabbed the A-10 Offensive Player of the Year. Wann was also the 2010 A-10 Rookie of the Year, marking the first time a Spider had won both Rookie and Player of the Year honors.
Five other Spiders grabbed honors as LeClair, Kristin Lescalleet and Melissa Pacheco all earned second team recognition. Ashley Williams and Melissa Alvarez-Freeman earned All Rookie honors.
Wann of the Nation's Best: Wann finished her sophomore season second in the conference and 13th in the nation in goals (15), 17th in points (36) and fourth in game-winning tallies (7). Wann finished second in a single season in both points (36) and goals (15). Wann set a single-season record for game-winning goals (7). Wann's 10 career game-winning goals already ranks second all-time.
Supporting Cast: Goalkeeper Pacheco ended her senior campaign second all-time in saves (224) and shutouts (12). Pacheco finished 30th in the country in goals against average (0.694) and 12th in save percentage (0.881). The Spiders ranked second in the A-10 in shutouts (11). Teammate Liza Koch is second in the A-10 and tops on the team with eight assists, which also ranks 30th in the nation.
Spider Surge: Richmond ended its 2011 slate having 11 of its last 14 games, and posting the most victories since 2002. Richmond won a season-best five games in a row this season, tying a program-high streak. Richmond's 7-1-1 finish in conference play is also a program-best.
The Spiders graduate seven seniors.
