UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Becca Wann was named first-team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America over the weekend.
Wann is the second Spider in women's soccer history to receive the accolade as Jacyln Raveia was named a first team All-American in 2000. Overall, Wann is the fourth Spider in program history to be named to the prestigious list.
The Chesterfield native is the first sophomore to receive the award, as the three other Spiders were seniors. Wann was selected as one of 15 players from the nation's top programs to be named to the first team.
Wann was the 2011 A-10 Offensive Player of the Year and an A-10 first team selection. Wann also was crowned the 2010 A-10 Rookie of the Year.
Wann finished her sophomore season second in the conference and 13th in the nation in goals (15), 17th in points (36) and fourth in game-winning tallies (7).
Wann finished second in a single season in both points (36) and goals (15) in Richmond program history.
Wann set a single-season record for game-winning goals (7) and Wann's 10 career game-winners already rank second all-time.
Two-sport Wann currently plays basketball for the Spiders and averages 4.3 points per game and is third on the team in assists (20). Wann most recently notched a season-high 10 points in the win over UNCG.
