Richmond Downs Rhody, 55-45, To Advance To A-10 Semifinals

Senior Kevin Anderson scored a game-high 21 points, while teammate Justin Harper added a double-double as Richmond downed Rhode Island, 55-45, to advance to its second-straight A-10 semifinal Friday night at Boardwalk Hall.
Richmond (25-7) will square off against No. 24 Temple (25-6) tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. on CBS College Sports.
Richmond was buoyed by Anderson's 21 tallies, including a dagger three-pointer to boost the Spiders' lead to double digits with 36 seconds remaining. Anderson scored in double figures for the 28th time this season and has 12 20-point or more games this season.
Harper added 12 points and 13 boards for his seventh career double-double, sixth this season. Martel provided a spark off the bench with nine points, including a follow-up jam to a Harper miss.
Richmond outrebounded Rhody, 42-35, and sunk 14-of-17 free throws. Richmond's 42 boards were just two shy of tying a season-high.
Richmond is just one victory shy of tying a last year's 26-win mark, which was a program record.
The Spiders have held their last four opponents to under 60 points and have 21 of 25 wins by coming by double-figures.
The Spiders improved to 11-6 all-time versus Rhode Island and improved to 3-1 in neutral games this season.
Richmond improved to 9-9 all-time in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
