
Men's Golf In 3rd After First Round Of A-10 Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Senior Michael Shrader, junior Brad Miller and sophomore Nick Austin each shot 4-over 76s as the Richmond men's golf team carded a 306 to sit in third place after the first round of the 2011 Atlantic 10 Championship played Friday at Mission Inn Resort.
The Spiders struggled a little bit under windy conditions, but are still in third place with 36 holes remaining. Xavier and five-time defending champion Charlotte are tied for first at 2-over-par 390.
Shrader, Miller and Austin are tied for 11th, six shots off the lead. Richmond senior Sam Beach and sophomore Daniel Walker are tied for 23rd at 6-over 78 on the par-72 El Campeon course.
The second round of the 54-hole, three-day tournament will be played Saturday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
