
Women's Tennis Looks For Third-Straight A-10 Crown This Weekend

The two-time defending champion Spiders (10-5, 4-0) look for their third-straight A-10 title and seventh in the last eight years this weekend at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.
Richmond is anchored by two-time All Conference selection and No. 1 singles Helen Cunningham and three-time all Conference recipient Kelly Tidwell.
The top-seeded Spiders received a bye and will play the winner of #8 Charlotte/#9 Dayton Friday at 3:30 p.m.
Richmond comes into the A-10 Tournament having won four of its last five matches and 10 of its last 12. The Spiders are a perfect 4-0 in conference play with 5-2 wins over Saint Louis, GW and Charlotte. Richmond edged rival Temple, 4-3, Feb. 12.
The Spiders were tabbed the conference favorite by the league's head coaches in a preseason poll.
Richmond has a conference-record seven A-10 crowns (2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010) and has made nine NCAA appearances, including six in the last seven seasons.
The seeds for the Championship are Richmond (first), Temple (second), Saint Louis (third), George Washington (fourth), Xavier (fifth), Duquesne (sixth), Massachusetts (seventh), Charlotte (eighth), Dayton (ninth), Fordham (10th), Saint Joseph's (11th), St. Bonaventure (12th), Rhode Island (13th) and La Salle (14th).
Competition begins on Friday, April 8, at 8:00am, with the final match of the day set to start at 6:00pm. On Saturday, April 9, play begins at 8:00am with the final match slated for 3:30pm. The fifth-place match of the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship will commence on Sunday, April 25, at 8:00am. The third place and title matches close out the event at 10:30am.
