Women's Tennis Dominates GW To Advance To A-10 Finals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -
Defending champion Richmond downed fourth-seeded George Washington, 4-0, during the semifinals of the 2011 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship, Saturday afternoon at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.
UR, the top-seed in the Championship, claimed the doubles point and the 1-0 advantage with an 8-2 win at number two doubles, along with an 8-6 victory at the third tandem position. The Spiders then captured three straight singles wins courtesy of Helen Cunningham at number one singles; Elizabeth Sims at number six singles; and Alexandra Smyth at number five singles.
With the win, the Spiders advance to the Championship, where they will face No. 3 Saint Louis at 10:30 a.m. Sunday for the A-10 crown.
