Spiders Look For Sixth Win In A Row At Duquesne
09/29/2011 | Women's Soccer
Richmond, winners of five in a row, head to Duquesne to open conference play Friday night at 7 p.m. The Spiders continue action with St. Bonaventure Sunday.
Last Time Out: Richmond beat American, 2-0, last Saturday to record its fifth win a row. Two-time A-10 Player of the Week Becca Wann had the game's first score, while Liza Koch added the insurance. The five-game win streak is a season-best and ties the Women's Soccer Sweet 16 team in 2002 for most consecutive wins in a row.
Richmond Lately: Wann has a conference and team-leading nine goals on the season and ranks 17th nationally in overall points. Since the thrilling win over No. 21 William & Mary to jumpstart the streak, the Spiders have outscored opponents 11-2 and notched a season-high four goals in a win over Old Dominion. Richmond enters conference play with a 6-3-2 mark.
Richmond, combined with three other A-10 schools, have won a combined 22 games in a row.
Last Time vs. the Dukes: Richmond dominated Duquesne, 4-0, last October at Ukrop Park. Wann had two tallies, while Jensen Smith and graduated senior Kristen Schmitt each had scores.
Duquesne Lately: The Dukes come into the contest 1-7-1 and most recently dropped a 2-1 decision to Canisius. Four different Dukes have scored for Duquesne this season.
Last Time vs. Bonnies: Richmond edged the Bonnies, 2-1, last October in Dec. Wann and Emily Dale each scored goals.
St. Bonaventure Lately: The Bonnies are 5-4-1 on the season and open with GW Friday in Olean, N.Y. Three different Bonnies have two tallies for St. Bonaventure.
Richmond plays at St. Bonaventure Sunday at 1 p.m.
