Wann Tabbed Wo Men's Soccer Player Of The Week
09/06/2011 | Women's Soccer
All Conference selection Becca Wann was selected as the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week after notching a hat trick in a win over Old Dominion last week.
Wann scored her first collegiate hat trick in a 4-0 win over ODU last week. Wann also added an assist and had a career-high 11 shots. The three goals scored was the most by a Spider in a single game since Megan Ogilvie had a hat trick in a 3-1 win over Rhode Island in 2002.
Wann leads the team with three goals, two assists for eight points. The Chesterfield, Va. native has also notched a team-high 29 shots. Wann registered 70 shots last season, ranking fifth in a single season.
This is the second Player of the Week award as Wann was honored last season after scoring two goals (including the game-winner) in a victory over Saint Joe's and had another score in a tie against Temple.
Wann was the 2010 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year last season, the first time a Spider has garnered the award. Wann was also a 2010 All Conference first team selection and earned the same preseason recognition this year.
