WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sophomore Derrick Williams secured his second-straight double-double, but the short-handed Spiders lost to George Washington Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Williams went 2-for-4 from the field and sank 7-of-8 free throws to finish with 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Junior Darien Brothers buried 10-of-12 at the line on his way to a team-high 17 points, while rookie Kendall Anthony added 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting in his first collegiate start.
Richmond (11-8, 2-2 A-10) was without starting guard Cedrick Lindsay in his hometown of Washington, D.C. The Spiders still managed to shoot 18-for-44 (40.9%) from the floor and finished the night 26-of-36 (72.2%) at the line.
GW (7-11, 2-2 A-10) jumped out to an early lead and never looked back behind 32-of-55 (58.2%) shooting from the field, its second-best offensive outing of the year and well above its season average of 41.6%. The Colonials also buried 4-of-10 (40%) from behind the arc and hit 15-of-18 (83.3%) at the line in what was an all-around solid performance on the offensive end on Wednesday.
Junior Lasan Kromah equaled a career-high 25 points to lead all players in the scoring column. Senior Tony Taylor joined him in double figures with 21 tallies and junior David Pellom brought down a team-best eight boards for the Colonials.
The Spiders return to the Robins Center on Saturday when they host Massachusetts for a 5 p.m. tip. The game is the second contest in a doubleheader also featuring the women's basketball team, which welcomes La Salle to the Robins Center at 1 p.m.
