UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Following her school-record finish in the 3,000 Meters at Virginia Tech's Hokie Invitational this past weekend, senior Nicol Traynor was named A-10 Women's Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week on Monday by the conference office. The award marks the second of her Spider track career.
In her season debut in Blacksburg, Traynor (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) turned in a time of 9:40.63 in the 3,000 Meters to shatter the school record previously held by Spider standout Amy Van Alstine by five seconds. Traynor's time is the fastest in the league this season by better than 11 seconds.
The 2011 All-American would also join forces with a trio of Spider freshmen to pace the A-10 leading DMR squad to a third-place finish of 12:00.56 with an anchor split of 4:53.40.
Traynor and the Spiders return to the track on Saturday when they visit Fairfax, Va., for George Mason's Patriot Games.
