Spiders Battle Billikens Saturday Night

SAINT LOUIS, MO --Richmond plays at Saint Louis Saturday night at 8 p.m. (ET) at Chaifetz Arena.
The Latest:
- Richmond erased a 10-point deficit, but fell to Dayton, 81-78, in overtime Wednesday night at UD Arena.
- Abby Oliver finished with a career-high 28 points, going 10-for-21 from the field, 6-of-6 at the line and 2-of-3 from long range. Oliver also had four assists and three steals. Rachael Bilney, sidelined the first half due to fouls, poured in 17 second-half points. Becca Wann notched the second double-double of her career with 16 points and a team-high 11 boards.
- Wednesday's game marked the 15th overtime game in Richmond history. The Spiders own a 6-9 mark all-time. Richmnond fell to 5-4 in away overtime games. The Spiders' last overtime contest was a double-overtime loss to Chattanooga Dec. 29, 2009.
- Head coach Michael Shafer became the second winningest coach in Richmond women's basketball history with the win Saturday against La Salle. Shafer is now 117-91 all-time in his seven seasons at the helm of the Spiders. Shafer moved past former coach (and current head coach of Fordham) Stephanie Gaiteley who had a 116-63 mark through six seasons. Fanny Crenshaw, the long-time coach of the Spiders, owns the all-time record at 166-58.
- Richmond is third in the nation in free-throw percentage (287-350) for a 82 percent mark. Richmond made a season-high 27 free-throws in the win over La Salle.
- Abby Oliver, the nation's top free-throw shooter, is 73-of-77 this season for 95 percent accuracy. Oliver had her best performance at the line against Liberty, where she went 10-for-10.
- Oliver is eighth all-time in scoring with 1,300 points and is eighth in career three-pointers made (133). Oliver has played in 115 games as a Spider, only three games shy of cracking the top-10 for all-time games played.

- The Spiders own the edge in the series with the Billikens, 4-3, and have won three straight. Richmond is 2-1 at Chaifetz Arena.
- The Spiders took last year's meeting, 68-57, last February at the Robins Center. Abby Oliver led the Spiders with 18 points, while Genevieve Okoro added a double-double.

Saint Louis Lately: The Billikens come into Saturday's game with a 7-13, 1-4 mark overall. Saint Louis dropped a 68-58 decision to GW Wednesday. Courtney Webb scored 14 points (3-3 from long range) while Mallory Eggert and Desirae Ball scored 12 points apiece. Webb leads Billiken scoring with 11.3 ppg. Ball follows with 8.6 ppg, while Lorreal Jones adds 8.3 ppg.

- After playing four of its last five on the road, Richmond returns to the Robins Center to host Rhode Island Tuesday for a noon tip for Dream Big Day. Local schoolchildren will be in attendance for the event. The Spiders remain at home to host Saint Joe's Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
