Spiders Play At Cross-Town Rival VCU Friday

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond travels to cross-town rival and new A-10 member, VCU, Friday night at 7 p.m. at Sports Backers Stadium.
Richmond Lately: The Spiders earned four points last weekend with a thrilling double-overtime 2-2 tie with Butler Friday and a 1-0 victory over Saint Louis Sunday afternoon. Becca Wann and Natalie LeClair had the scores for Richmond Friday. Wann scored in the game's 80th minute Sunday to edge the Billikens. Wann leads all Spiders with seven goals for 15 points. Richmond is 7-7-1, 3-2-1 overall. Currently the Spiders are in sixth place in the A-10 standings.
VCU Lately: The Rams come into Friday's contest with a 9-4-3, 4-2-0 mark and is in sole possession of third place in the conference standings. VCU's 12 points tie three other teams in the league. VCU is coming off a 2-0 weekend with wins over Saint Louis and Butler. The Rams have won two in a row and four of the last five. The Rams are led by Courtney Conrad's nine goals for a team-leading 18 points. VCU brings a 4-1-3 home record into Friday's contest.
Last Time Out: The last three meetings between the rivals have been tightly-contested matches. VCU took the last meeting in 2010 with a 1-0 score, while both teams battled to a scoreless draw in 2009. Richmond last beat VCU in 2008 with a 1-0 decision.
