10/23/2012 | Men's Basketball
ASHLAND, Va. - In celebration of 100 years of basketball at both institutions, Richmond will travel to Randolph-Macon for an exhibition game at Crenshaw Gymnasium on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m.
The Spiders and Yellow Jackets had a waiver granted by the NCAA to play the exhibition game. Division I teams are normally prohibited from playing exhibition games on the road.
Tickets will go on sale Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Crenshaw Gymnasium ticket office on the campus of Randolph-Macon.
Two of the most successful programs in the history of the Commonwealth, R-MC and Richmond are both celebrating 100 years of basketball in 2012-13. The two programs met 80 times between 1914 and 1983 when R-MC was a member of Division II. The Spiders won 61 of those 80 meetings. The Spiders and Yellow Jackets played a regular season game to open the 2008-09 season with Richmond winning 81-57 in the Robins Center.
This is the first exhibition game that the Spiders have played in eight seasons under Chris Mooney.
