UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond capitalized on an own goal to beat Fordham, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Robins Stadium.
The goal was scored in the game's 82nd minute after a Fordham defender inadvertently headed the ball into the net.
"Points are so hard to come by," said head coach Peter Albright. "Fordham is a good team and a very hard team to beat. I am proud of our team today."
Richmond improved to 6-7 on the season, 2-2 in A-10 action. Fordham dropped its second-straight as it fell to 6-8, 2-2.
Richmond had 11 shots, led by Becca Wann's three. Senior goalkeeper Andrea Young recorded a six saves.
The Spiders continue home play with Butler next Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. for senior day. Richmond will honor its seniors in a pregame ceremony.
