Men's Basketball Hosts Wofford Tuesday

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond (3-1) returns home to host Wofford on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Robins Center.
The Spiders are coming off a hard-fought loss at Minnesota on Sunday night when Richmond led by nine in the first half, and after Minnesota took a halftime lead, the Spiders went up by seven with 10 minutes to play. The Golden Gophers (4-0) came back and pushed the lead to double-figures in the closing minutes.
This will be the third meeting between Richmond and Wofford on the hardwood. Richmond has won both meetings, defeating the Terriers 87-55 on Nov. 27, 2996 in the Robins Center and 65-55 on Feb. 19, 1997 in Spartanburg, S.C.
The Terriers are off to a 1-3 start having dropped all three of their road games. Karl Cochran leads the team in scoring at 17.8 points per game and Spencer Collins is averaging 12.0 points per game. Lee Skinner is averaging 11.3 points and 8.0 rebounds.
THE LATEST
• The Spiders will be without starting point guard Cedrick Lindsay on Tuesday against Wofford. Lindsay hit his head on the court on a drive to the basket in the second half of Sunday night's game at Minnesota and was diagnosed with a concussion. Lindsay will be evaluated by a neurologist later this week, when it will be determined if he can play Saturday at Ohio. Kendall Anthony will get his second-career start Tuesday night.
• Richmond is 43-8 in its last 51 home games and 30-4 in the last 34 non-conference home games dating back to the 2007-08 season.
• The Spiders are looking for their 3rd 4-1 start in the last 4 seasons and the 30th start of 4-1 or better in 100 seasons of Richmond Basketball.
• Tonight's game is the 3rd of 4 games the Spiders play in the Nation of Coaches Classic. Richmond defeated UNCW 101-58 and Hampton 68-58 last week to improve to 13-1 in regular-season tournament play over the last four seasons. The Spiders wrap-up play in the Nation of Coaches Classic on Saturday at Ohio. Richmond won the 2009 South Padre Island Invitational with wins over Mississippi St. and Missouri and the 2010 Chicago Invitational with a win over No. 8 ranked Purdue.
• Richmond looks to rebound from its first loss of the season on Sunday night at Minnesota. The Spiders forced 11 turnovers in the game's first 12 minutes in opening up a 9 point lead. The Golden Gophers came back to take a 1 point halftime lead, but Richmond opened up a 7 point lead midway through the second half. Minnesota came back again, this time opening up a double-figure lead in the closing minutes. The Spiders forced 19 turnovers and had 15 steals, the most for a Richmond team since the 2009-10 season. After shooting 49.7 percent through the first three games, the Spiders shot just 33.3 percent against Minnesota, making 4-of-20 three-pointers.
• The Spiders won their opener over Liberty by 42 points and the second game against UNCW by 43 points, matching the 1955-56 team for the largest margin of victory (42.5) through 2 games in 100 seasons of Richmond basketball. The Spiders margin of victory through three games was 31.7 points, the second largest in school history.
• Richmond is forcing 19.5 turnovers per game and scoring 27.8 ppg off turnovers. The Spiders are averaging 12.0 steals per game.
• The Spiders return 4 of their top-5 scorers, including one of the best backcourts in the league in Darien Brothers, Cedrick Lindsay and 2012 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year Kendall Anthony. Look for sophomore Wayne Sparrow, who was coming on strong to start conference play before missing the last 10 games with a broken hand, to also see significant time in the backcourt.
