THE LATEST
- The Spiders host former Southern Conference rival Davidson in the last game of 2012. Richmond continues its 100th Season Celebration, honoring two Greatest Moments on Saturday. The Spiders will honor Warren Mills and the great Spider teams of the early 1950s, along with Jonathan Baker and the 1998 NCAA Tournament team that defeated No. 3 seed South Carolina. Mills, the first Spider to have his number 23 raised to the rafters, scored 17 points as Richmond defeated national power North Carolina in double overtime 87-82 in the Benedictine High School Gym on Feb. 3, 1953. Two years later Mills scored 13 points as Richmond held two-time All-American Hot Rod Hundley to seven points in a 106-67 victory over West Virginia in the Richmond Arena. Baker and the Spiders won their last of five CAA Championships and took down South Carolina in the NCAA Tournament to become the first and still only school to win NCAA Tourney games as a No. 15, 14, 13 and 12 seed.
- Richmond is 7-0 at home and 47-8 in its last 55 home games. The Spiders are 34-4 in the last 38 non-conference home games dating back to the 2007-08 season.
- Darien Brothers has 988 career points, needing just 12 points to become the 41st Spider men's player to score career 1,000 points. The Richmond native has made 36 three-pointers this season to give him 157 for his career, which ranks ninth on Richmond's career list. He needs five three-pointers to tie Ken Atkinson (1986-90) for eighth. Brothers is 10th in the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 14.9 points per game and second in three-point percentage (.529). He is fifth in three-pointers made per game (2.8).
- Junior Derrick Williams is 10th in the Atlantic 10 in scoring averaging 14.8 points per game and 8th in rebounding (7.0). He ranks 7th in the league in field goal percentage (.567).
- The Spiders have shot over 50 pct. from the field in 4 of the last 7 games. The Spiders are second in the A-10 in three-point percentage at 38.2 percent and second in the league in three-pointers made per game (8.3).
