Spiders in Seventh after 36 Holes at Wexford Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The University of Richmond men's golf team carded rounds of 309-302 to finish the first day of the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in seventh place with a total of 611 (+35). Georgia State leads all teams with a 36-hole score of 591 (+15). Teams will play the third and final round of the event on Tuesday morning.
Leading the way for the Spiders on Monday was sophomore Jack Wilkes, who carded rounds of 71-77 to tie for sixth place after 36 holes - just five shots short of the lead. Junior Nick Austin also had a solid first day for UR, tying for 17th after two rounds with a score of 151 (+7).
Senior Brad Miller is tied for 44th after the first day with a score of 156 (+12), while junior Daniel Walker is tied for 55th with a total of 158 (+14). Rounding out the Spiders' effort on the first day was senior Jack Lessing, who sits in a tie for 67th after carding a score of 160 (+16).
The University of Richmond men's golf team will wrap up play at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Tuesday. Results will be posted on RichmondSpiders.com as soon as they become available.
