Spiders in Ninth After First Day at Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST, N.C. - The University of Richmond Spiders women's golf team carded solid rounds of 301-303 to sit in ninth place after two rounds at the 2012 Pinehurst Challenge with a total of 604 (+28). N.C. State leads the 17-team field with a 36-hole team score of 571 (-5).
After earning a top-20 finish at The Spider at St. James, junior Caroline Lovette continued her strong play on Monday at the Pinehurst Challenge. Lovette carded first round 72 (E) and then followed with a second round 74 (+2) to end the day tied for ninth with a total of 146 (+2). The score for Lovette is the second-best 36-hole score in school history.
Just one stroke behind her teammate was sophomore Danielle Pinder, who scored the third-best two-round score in Richmond history with her total of 147 (+3). Pinder shot rounds of 72-75 to tie for 13th after the first day.
Junior Courtney Rousse sits in a tie for 44th place after 36 holes with a score of 152 (+8), while sophomore Lauren Conder is tied for 73rd with a total of 159 (+15). Rounding out the Spiders' effort on Monday was sophomore Viviana Perez who is tied for 84th with a score of 167 (+23).
Playing as individuals, junior Tracy Martin is tied for 65th with a score of 157 (+13), while sophomore Krystin Schwarze sits in a tie for 88th after carding a two-round score of 169 (+25).
The Richmond Spiders women's golf team will conclude play at the Pinehurst Challenge on Tuesday morning. The third and final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Results will be posted as soon as they become available.
