Becca's Blog: First Installment From Florida
07/17/2012 | Women's Soccer
Hi Spider Fans!
After a broken plane and missing my connecting flight in Charlotte, I finally made it to Bradenton, Florida for the final camp. The next step is the team will depart for the U-20 World Cup in Japan. Since this is my second go around, my arrival was not quite as nerve-racking as before because I already knew the girls. The familiarity of knowing the girls helped my on and off the field interactions with them. Coming into our first training session, the energy and intensity was high in every drill, and it was very apparent that everyone had one thing on their mind--gold!
With the World Cup fast approaching, everyone involved with the camp realizes that this is the last chance to tighten every aspect of the team's game and make sure we are all as ready for what lies ahead in Japan.
I wish the weather would cooperate! It's a good thing I love soccer because it has rained every day since we have arrived in Florida. This morning was the first training session that we didn't get soaked, and on Sunday we practiced in a thunderstorm.
The concentration and focus is palpable and it is an intense environment in not only training but our team meetings. It's going to be an awesome couple of weeks. I am so blessed to be apart of this team yet again, and so excited for what lies ahead! I am getting ready to go to my second practice of the day. I love it. These sessions are preparing me for the upcoming Spider soccer season. Talk soon!
