Spiders Play At William & Mary Wednesday

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond plays the Tribe of William & Mary Wednesday night in Williamsburg at 7 p.m.
Last Time Out: The Spiders dropped a thriller to Longwood Friday, 2-1, in Farmville. Ashley Williams had her first score of the season in the 77th minute to force overtime. The Spiders outshot Longwood, 17-9.
Richmond Lately: Richmond looks to win its first win season Wednesday night in Williamsburg. The Spiders are led by Natalie LeClair's eight shots on the season, while Shondel Archer and LeClair have an assist each.
William & Mary Lately: The Tribe is coming off a split weekend at the Tennessee Invitational. William & Mary fell to the host Vols in the opening match, 1-0, in overtime but dominated Akron Sunday in the final game of the weekend. The Tribe is led by CAA Preseason Player of the Year Mallory Schaffer and Cortlyn Bristol, who have scored twice on the season, respectively.
Last Matchup Against the Tribe: Richmond blanked No. 21 William & Mary 2-0 last September. Becca Wann scored both goals for the Spiders. It was Richmond's first win over the Tribe in the series history, and the first victory over a ranked opponent since 2009.
Up Next: Richmond hosts Villanova Friday at 7 p.m. at Robins Stadium in its home opener.
