Becca's Blog: One Win Away From Final
09/03/2012 | Women's Soccer
Hello Spider Fans!
I know it has been a while since I have written one of these, but it has been a busy week. I am sitting on the bus next to Julie Johnston (our captain), jamming out and savoring this feeling. We are on our way to Tokyo where we will stay the rest of our time in Japan. Our win over North Korea was insane, as we won 2-1 in overtime. It truly was a team win. We never gave up, and now we are headed to the semifinals!
Although I didn't get in the game, I was definitely making my presence known on the bench. There is a rule that all players on the bench must sit throughout the entire game... That didn't happen. I was up cheering with my teammates the whole game (the inner basketball player in me came out), and everyone did all they could to pull out the win.
We play Nigeria in the semis on September 4th at 4 p.m., and the atmosphere is going to be awesome! Every day here is a blessing. This team is incredible, and I am so honored to be apart of it. I am so excited for what lies ahead of us here on our quest for gold!
I have to give a shout out to my Spider soccer girls getting our first win against Villanova Friday. I can't wait to get back and join forces with them once we take care of business over here!
