Former Spiders Sign with Chelsea Ladies Football

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Edda Gardarsdottir '03 and Olina Vidarsdottir '04 signed professional contracts to play for the Chelsea Ladies Football Club.
"The entire Richmond soccer family is so proud of Edda and Olina, and excited for them as they take this big step." commented Head Coach Peter Albright. "They have dedicated themselves to playing professional soccer at the highest possible level, and this represents a great challenge and opportunity."
The former Spiders wil play for Chelsea Ladies Football in the English FA Women's Professional League. Regular fixtures on the Full National Team of Iceland, Edda and Olina were standouts on the 2002 Richmond women's soccer team that advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.
They have been playing professionally for Oremo in Sweden's top Women's Professional Soccer League for the past four years.
