UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Spiders football team led the CAA in Graduation Success Rate in 2012-13, the NCAA announced last week.
Richmond posted a GSR of 91 percent for the 2012-13 season, meaning that 91 percent of Spider football players earned a degree. The Spiders' GSR was the best not only among the 11 CAA Football institutions, but was also tops among all football programs in Virginia.
“Really excited to see the results of the GSR here being at 91 percent,” Richmond head coach Danny Rocco remarked. “I think it speaks volumes about our commitment both athletically and academically. To see where we stack nationally with some of the really prominent, FBS schools was also something that I thought was strong for our program. To be at the top in Virginia and in the CAA is a real plus for our University and our team.”
In 2012, the football team posted the best fall term GPA in program history and the second-best overall term GPA. In the fall term, 41 student-athletes improved their cumulative GPAs, while 22 players recorded their best GPAs ever. Even more impressive, 31 student-athletes posted GPAs of 3.00 or better during the fall semester.
