Soccer Closes Regular Season On The Road

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond women's soccer team closes out their regular season on the road this weekend facing cross-town rival VCU Friday at 7 p.m., followed by their game against George Washington Sunday at 3 p.m.
Richmond Lately
The Spiders tied the UMass Minutewomen, 0-0, Sunday at Robins Stadium. Goalkeeper Emily Kelly had seven saves as she recorded her third shutout of the season. Sophomore Ashley Riefner nearly scored in the second half with a shot that barely sailed over the center post in the 87th minute. The Spiders record moves to 5-8-3, 2-3-1 with the tie. Jensen Smith and Ashley Riefner led the Spiders with four shot attempts each.
Scouting VCU
The Rams enter Friday's game with an 8-5-3, 3-1-2 mark overall. VCU most recently battled GW to a scoreless draw last weekend. The Rams currently sit in fifth-place in the A-10 standings and are led by senior forward Courtney Conrad who has 13 points on the season.
Scouting GW
Facing Delaware State Friday, GW is looking for its first win since Oct. 11. The Colonials record sits at 5-5-5, 2-3-2 and they rank eighth in the A-10 standings. Midfielders Jane Wallis and Lina Proska lead the Colonials with seven points a piece.
Last Time Out
VCU beat the Spiders, 3-1, in last year's meeting, while the Spiders managed to pull out a 2-0 win over GW.
