Men's Basketball Hosts Hofstra Tuesday At 7 P.M.

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond men's basketball team hosts Hofstra as part of the Hall of Fame Tipoff on Tuesday night in theRobins Center at 7 p.m.
The Pride are 1-2 under first-year coach Joe Mihalich, who came from Niagara where he coached Richmond transfer T.J. Cline last season. Dion Nesmith leads four Hofstra players averaging in double-figures at 16.0 points per game. Zeke Upshaw is averaging 15.3 ppg, Jamall Robinson 11.3 ppg and Chris Jenkins 10.0.

• Richmond returns to action in the Hall of Fame Tipoff, hosting Hofstra Tuesday. The Spiders defeated Belmont last Monday 69-61 in their first game in the Hall of Fame Tipoff. The Bruins proceeded to go into No. 7 ranked North Carolina and pick up an 83-80 win over the Tarheels. J.J. Mann, who was held to four points on 2-of-11 shooting against the Spiders last Monday, scored a career-high 28 points, including making the game-winning three-pointer with 13 seconds remaining. Richmond plays North Carolina on Saturday at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Montville, Conn. The Spiders and Tarheels will meet either Louisville and Fairfield on Sunday.
• Richmond has won three tournaments in the last five seasons. The Spiders won the 2011 Atlantic 10 Tournament, the 2010 Chicago Invitational Challenge and the 2009 South Padre Island Invitational. The Spiders are 15-2 in regular-season tournament play over the last 5 seasons.
• The Spiders are coming off a loss to Minnesota on Saturday in the Robins Center. Richmond led by four points with seven minutes remaining, but the Golden Gophers pulled away down the stretch. Cedrick Lindsay led the Spiders with 15 points and Deion Taylor scored 11 points.
• The Spiders are 39-6 in the last 45 non-conference home games and have won 57.
• Chris Mooney has moved into 4th on UR's career wins with 149, passing Lester Hooker. Mooney is looking for his 150 win at Richmond on Saturday. He needs 19 wins to tie Frank Dobson (1913-17, 1919-33) for 3rd on Richmond's all-time list.
• The Robins Center underwent a $17 million renovation in the off-season. The renovations have created a more intimate game day atmosphere including new lighting, video boards, refurbished seats, and new premium seating options. Finishing touches, including a new terrace level, will be completed in January. The Spiders did not miss a game in the arena due to the project.
• Cedrick Lindsay leads the team in scoring at 16.7 points per game. Lindsay is just 57 points shy of 1,000 for his career.
• Sophomore Terry Allen is almost averaging a double-double at 10.0 points per game and 9.3 rebounds.
