Postgame Quotes: Richmond 31, No. 19 William & Mary 20

William & Mary Head Coach Jimmye Laycock
Opening Statement...
“We didn't feel like we played very well. Credit to Richmond they did a very nice job. I was very disappointed in the way we played. Defensively, we struggled to get into a rhythm. We have played a lot better than we did today. We got our seven wins and now we go home. The two factors today that got me were, we were unable to get any pressure on the quarterback, and we couldn't stop their running game.”
Richmond Head Coach Danny Rocco
Opening Statement...
“I'm really excited about the way our team finished the season, its been a real difficult year in terms of obstacles, adversity and injury. We fought our way through it, the guys showed a lot of resiliency and leadership. We found our stride here in November and that's very encouraging to me, it shows that there listening and committed and those things and really important. Winning today was really important for our seniors. They've put a lot into this and had some ups and downs so to see them finish on a high note was really nice.”
So. DB David Herlocker
On the blocked punt…
“The blocked punt really gave us a big momentum shift going into halftime. We put the play in this week and we executed it.”
R-So. FB Seth Fisher
On his big day…
“The seniors were our motivating factors, they were preaching all week because they knew it was going to be their last game. I think your able to bring something else out of you when you know it may be your last game on the field. My teammates allowed me to bounce back from the fumble. This is the first time in my career I have been “the” running back and I've never dealt with adversity that intense.”
R-Jr. QB Michael Strauss
On the win…
“Going into this game we saw this as a great challenge, we know were a high powered offense and this was a test to show ourselves how good we are. We were resilient and we showed up tonight and when were on our game its real hard to stop us.”
