Men's Basketball Plays At Air Force Wednesday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Richmond plays its first true road game of the season when it faces Air Force on Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST.
Head coach Chris Mooney was on the coaching staff at Air Force for 5 seasons, including the 2004-05 season as the head coach. As the associate head coach in 2003-04, Mooney helped lead the Falcons to the NCAA Tournament. He went 18-12 in his one season as head coach, before taking the job at Richmond.
The Falcons are 3-2, having won two-straight entering Wednesday's match-up with Richmond. Tre' Coggins is leading the team in scoring at 17.4 points per game and Max Yon is averaging 14.6 points per game. Marek Olesinski is also averaging double-figures at 12.8 points per game.The Falcons are shooting 48.2 percent from the field and almost 40 percent from 3.
THE LATEST
• The Spiders' last visit to Colorado was for the 2011 NCAA Tournament at Denver's Pepsi Center. RIchmond defeated Vanderbilt in its opener and then jumped all over Kenny Farid and Morehead State to advance to the school's second Sweet 16. The Spiders only other visit to The Centennial State was a 75-62 win over Colorado in Boulder on Dec. 31, 2003. The Spiders defeated Air Force last year in Richmond, 91-68.
• The Spiders are coming off a successful showing in the Hall of Fame Tipoff, the Spiders went 3-1 in the tournament with the only loss coming in a hard-fought game with No. 19 ranked North Carolina. The Spiders led for most of the first half and trailed by just four with under four minutes to play to the Tarheels, who went on to defeat No. 2 ranked Louisville the next day.
• Senior Cedrick Lindsay scored his 1,000th career point on Sunday against Fairfield although the Spiders only needed 7 points from him in a rout of the Stags. Lindsay is averaging 18.7 points per game this season, including a then career-high 26 points in the win over Hofstra last Tuesday and a new career-high 29 against No. 29 North Carolina on Saturday. Lindsay has scored in double-figures in 16 of the last 20 games, has scored at least 19 points in 10 of the last 17 games and at least 20 points in 8 of the last 17 games. Lindsay is averaging 17.3 points per game in his last 17 contests.
• Richmond's sophomore big men are having a solid start to the season. Terry Allen is second on the team in scoring at 10.3 points per and leads the Spiders in rebounding at 7.5 boards per game. Alonzo Nelson-Ododa is at 7.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. Trey Davis is averaging 5.8 points and 6.3 rebounds and Deion Taylor scored 11 points vs. Minnesota.
• Junior Kendall Anthony, who had a career-high 31 vs. Air Force last year, and sophomore Alonzo Nelson-Ododa are close to cracking Richmond Top-10 lists. Anthony needs 12 3s to rank 10th in career treys and Nelson-Ododa needs 11 blocks to rank 10th in career blocks.
