THE SERIES
This is the 36th meeting in a series between the two teams that dates back to 1950. The Spiders hold the all-time advantage, 23-12, and are coming off a 71-61 victory to open the season last year. Richmond has won the last eight outings over the Lancers.
THE SPIDERS
The Spiders are coming off a huge win over the Virginia Tech Hokies this past Wednesday. Freshman Janelle Hubbard led Richmond over Virginia Tech, 64-56, to give the Hokies their first loss of the season. Hubbard scored 15 points, 12 of which came in the first half, while Keri Soppe and Genevieve Okoro added 12 and 11 points, respectively. Richmond is now 6-5 against Virginia Tech and is 11-11 against ACC teams, dating back to 2003.
THE LANCERS
The Lancers are coming off a 66-65 loss to George Mason this past Tuesday, as they are 3-2 on the season. Longwood is shooting 37.3 percent from the field and 71.6 percent from the line. Daeisha Brown leads the Lancers as she is averaging 18.6 points per game, while Raven Williams is the only other Lancer averaging double figures with 14.0 points per game.
LAST TIME OUT
Three Spiders in double figures led Richmond over Virginia Tech, 64-56, to give the Hokies their first loss of the season this past Wednesday at Cassell Coliseum. Janelle Hubbard led the Spiders with 15 points, 12 of which came in the first half. Keri Soppe added 12 points and four assists, while Genevieve Okoro scored 11 points for her third-straight game in double figures. The win lifts Richmond to a 6-5 all-time advantage over the Hokies as Richmond is now 11-11 against ACC teams, dating back to 2003.
HOT IN THE ACC
After defeating Virginia Tech and Miami this season the Spiders have made their mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference, evening their record to 11-11 since the 2003 season. Richmond defeated the Hurricanes on Nov. 10, 57-50, before giving Virginia Tech its first loss of the season on Nov. 27, 64-56. The Spiders will have a chance to face Florida State in the Long Beach Classic Dec. 20-21.
UP NEXT
The Spiders will cap off their four-game road swing when they travel to Lynchburg, Va., to face the Liberty Flames Tuesday at 7 p.m.
