KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Junior Danny Pizetoski carded a 3-under-par 69 in the final round to finish 16th and the Richmond men's golf team finished the fall season with a 15th-place finish at the Wendy's Kiawah Classic, completed Tuesday at Turtle Point Golf Course.
Pizetoski finished at 6-over-par 222 as he posted his third top-20 finish in four fall tournaments. Pizetoski shot a 77 in the first round and a 76 in the second round.
Sophomore David Germann tied for 37th at 11-over 227 (75-76-76) and junior Austin Romeo tied for 41st at 12-over 228, including an opening round 72. Senior Jack Wilkes tied for 82nd at 239 and junior Colin McDade tied for 87th.
The Spiders started off the fall by winning the Marshall Invitational, with Pizetoski taking the individual title. Richmond finished fourth at the VCU Shootout and ninth at the Temple University Invitational.
“We obviously started out the fall well with the victory at Marshall, but we didn't finish as strong as we would have liked,” Richmond head coach Adam Decker said. “The guys have time to work on their games over the winter and we'll be excited to get back at it in February.”
Richmond returns to action on Feb. 17 at the Wexford Intercollegiate at Wexford Plantation in Hilton Head, S.C.
