Spiders Face W&M For 199th Time Wednesday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Richmond faces rival William & Mary for the 199th time on the hardwood on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Kaplan Arena.
The game will be broadcast through TribeAthletics.com and can be viewed as part of your SpiderTV/Atlantic 10 package with Neulion. Bob Black and Greg Beckwith will have the call on the Spider IMG Sports Network on ESPN Radio 950AM and 93.1FM The WOLF.
The Tribe (4-3) have won three-straight, including a 10-point road win over Rutgers on Nov. 23. William & Mary is averaging 76.7 points per game and shooting 47.7 percent from the field. Marcus Thornton leads the Tribe in scoring at 19.0 points per game and Omar Prewitt is second on the team at 15.9 ppg. Tim Rusthoven is averaging 14.9 points and 6.0 rebounds and Terry Tarpey is averaging 7.6 points a team-high 6.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks.
THE SPIDERS
• Richmond returns to the road for the 4th time in the last 5 games, playing its second true road game of the season. The Spiders split 2 neutral court games in Connecticut with Fairfield and nationally ranked UNC and won at Air Force last Wednesday. Richmond looks to improve to 2-0 in true road games for the first time since John Beilein and the Spiders won at UAB and Radford to open the 2001-02 season.
• The Spiders are looking for their fourth-straight win overall and the fourth-straight win over William & Mary in the 199th meeting with the Tribe. Richmond leads the series 100-98, including an 86-78 OT win last November in the Robins Center. The Spiders won in their last visit to Williamsburg, 92-61 on Nov. 30, 2011. Richmond's last loss to William & Mary came on Nov. 19, 2009, a 78-71 loss in Williamsburg.
• Senior Cedrick Lindsay scored his 1,000th career point in the win over Fairfield on Nov. 24 and is currently 38th on Richmond's all-time scoring list with 1,034 points. He needs 8 points to tie Danny Higgins for 37th and 25 points to tie Scott Stapleton for 36th. Lindsay has scored in double-figures in 7 of 8 games this season, including a career-high 29 points against UNC. He leads the Spiders and is 7th in the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 17.8 points per game. Lindsay has scored in double-figures in 18 of the last 22 games, has scored at least 19 points in 10 of the last 19 games and at least 20 points in 8 of the last 19 games. Lindsay is averaging 17.1 points per game in his last 19 contests. He needs just 10 assists to tie Jeff Myers for 10th on Richmond's career list for assists.
• Richmond's sophomore big men are having a solid start to the season. Terry Allen is second on the team in scoring at 11.4 points per game after a career-high 19 last Wednesday at Air Force and leads the Spiders in rebounding at 7.3 boards per game. Alonzo Nelson-Ododa is 4th on the team in scoring at 7.6 ppg, 2nd in rebounding at 6.1 rpg, and third in the A-10 in blocks at 2.0 per game. Trey Davis is averaging 4.9 ppg and 5.8 rpg and Deion Taylor scored 11 points vs. Minnesota.
• Junior Kendall Anthony has 144 career three-pointers, which is just 7 from trying Jermaine Bucknor for 10th on Richmond's all-time career list. Anthony is currently 4th on Richmond's all-time list for career three-point percentage at .408.
• Sophomore Alonzo Nelson Ododa has already blocked 78 shots in his career, just 6 from tying Johnny Newman (84) for 10th on the Spiders' all-time career list for blocks. Nelson Ododa's 62 blocks as a freshman ranked 6th on Richmond's single-season list.
• Freshman ShawnDre' Jones has scored in double-figures in 2 of the last 3 games after a career-high 13 points in the win over James Madison. Jones is shooting a team-best 38.5 percent (5-of-13) from 3.
• Richmond leads the A10 in FG pct defense (.387), 2nd in 3FG pct defence (.227) and 4th in the A-10 in scoring defense at 63.6 ppg.
• Chirs Mooney is 4th on UR's career wins list with 153, needing 15 wins to tie Frank Dobson for 3rd.
