A-10 Championship Blog: Wednesday Edition

Painesville, OH – The meet has started, and we've accepted a four-day battle to win the championship. We're down by 54 to UMASS after three events.
We won the 200 Medley Relay with Lauren Hines (24.95), Mali Kobelja (28.00), Kelley Yang (23.71), and Mina Vucic (22.85). It was an easy selection process. I felt good with this mix considering we put our two seniors on the ends. The first event can be nerve-wracking, but I had faith in LH and MV to guide us early. They did exactly what we wanted to do. Oh, and that fly split is legit. She left .38 on the block, too. LEGIT.
Katherine and Erica placed 5th and 10th on the 1m. They are up against an “army” of 6 UMass divers. Our divers are good – just out-numbered. UMass has clearly made diving part of their strategy, and it might pay off. KC and EE dive again on Friday.
We won the 800 Free Relay with Natalya Ares (1:49.11), Molly McSweeney (1:51.20), Allison Titley (1:50.22), and Jessie Krebs (1:51.07). That's two freshmen, 1 sophomore, and 1 junior. I love starting the meet with 8 different people on these two relays. Its always a gamble, but these ladies made it happen! Nat led off in a new Richmond freshmen record, and Jessie delivered the pressure-filled anchor that we needed.
A lot of people assume we'll win a championship. Well, it's not that easy. We trained for 24 weeks to get to this point, and we go to bed tonight with a huge up-hill battle ahead of us. It's daunting; it's pressure; it's stressful.
But, I'd bet on these Spiders.
