Richmond, Martin Make Charge At Kiawah On Monday

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The University of Richmond Spiders women's golf team shot the sixth-best team round in school history on Monday, making a charge up the leaderboard at the 32-team Kiawah Island Intercollegiate.
The Spiders carded a team-round of 299 (+11) on Monday, bringing their 36-hole total to 605 (+29). Richmond sits in third place, just five strokes shy of No. 38-ranked Campbell and nine back of first-place College of Charleston.
Once again, senior Tracy Martin sits in contention for individual medalist honors headed in to the third and final round on Tuesday. Martin carded a second round 73 (+1) on Monday and heads into the final round tied for first with a score of 145 (+1).
Earlier this season, Martin won the Wendy's Invitational, helping the Spider women's golf team run away with the team tournament title.
Senior Caroline Lovette played well once again on Monday, shooting a second round 75 (+3) to sit in a tie for 16th place with a total of 151 (+7). Classmate Courtney Rousse cut six strokes off her first round score, carding a 74 (+2) on Monday to push her 36-hole total to 154 (+10), good for a tie for 36th place.
Rounding out Richmond's effort, both junior Lauren Conder and sophomore Eliza Breed are tied for 70th place with scores of 158 (+14).
The Richmond Spiders women's golf team will conclude play at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate on Tuesday with third and final round action.
