Spider Wo Men's Golf Places Fourth At Kiawah

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The University of Richmond Spiders women's golf team wrapped up a very successful three days at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate on Tuesday, placing fourth out of 32 teams with a 54-hole score of 914 (+50).
With team scores of 306-299-309, the Spiders earned their second top-five finish this season and their fourth top-10 finish out of the five events played so far this season.
"Really proud of they way they played this week," Richmond head coach Maggie Will said. "Great start to the spring championship season. They focused all tournament and were committed to their goals."
Leading the way for Richmond at Kiawah was senior Tracy Martin, who earned All-Tournament honors with her fifth place finish. Martin was terrific all three days for the Spiders, carding rounds of 72-73-77 to finish with a total of 222 (+6). The top-five was Martin's third this season and the sixth of her career.
Classmate Caroline Lovette played solid golf all three rounds, shooting scores of 76-75-75 to tie for 13th place with a total of 226 (+10). Lovette notched her second top-20 of the year and the fourth of her career.
Fellow senior Courtney Rousse also played well, tying for 35th place with a score of 232 (+16). After shooting a first-round 80 (+8), Rousse bounced back to card rounds of 74-78.
Playing her first tournament for Richmond, sophomore Eliza Breed finished in a tie for 71st with a score of 237 (+21). Rounding out the Spiders' effort, junior Lauren Conder tied for 82nd with a total of 239 (+23).
The Richmond Spiders women's golf team will next be on the course one week from today when the team will play both Lehigh and Yale in a tri-match in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
