Spider Baseball Hosts Quinnipiac This Weekend

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond Spiders baseball team will play host to the Quinnipiac Bobcats this weekend at Pitt Field. The three-game series begins on Saturday at 1 p.m., with a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Scouting the Spiders
The Richmond Spiders enter this weekend riding their second
five-game winning streak this season.
Before taking down Old Dominion in a midweek contest, 7-6, the Spiders
(10-2) swept a three-game series against Wagner at Pitt Field.
Leading the way offensively for Richmond has been senior 1B Bret Williams and freshman OF Tanner Stanley. Williams leads the team with a .444 batting average, five doubles and 14 RBI. Stanley has reached base safely in all 12 games this season, posting an on-base percentage of .473.
Junior Nick Poulos has been great as well, hitting .444 on the year, while freshman Aaron Newman leads the team with two home runs.
The Spider pitching staff has been solid this season, from its starters to the back of the bullpen. Redshirt freshman Jonathan de Marte leads the team with three wins, while sophomore Zak Sterling has posted an ERA of 2.87. Sophomores Dylan Stoops and Ryan Cook have each recorded three saves already this season.
Scouting the Bobcats
The Quinnipiac Bobcats come to Richmond with a 3-0 record on
the season, having started their 2013 campaign with a sweep of George
Washington in Washington D.C. Last
season, the Bobcats posted a record of 9-38 overall, which included a
three-game sweep at the hands of the Spiders at Pitt Field.
