Richmond Falls To Northeastern At Pitt Field

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Spiders baseball team dropped a 12-5 decision to the Northeastern Huskies at Pitt Field on Saturday afternoon.
With the non-conference loss, Richmond's record falls to 22-11 on the season while the Huskies improve to 21-14 on the year.
Freshman Tanner Stanley continued his impressive play this season, going 3-for-4 on the day with a double and two RBI. Senior Jacob Mayers was also strong at the plate, belting a two-run home run – his fifth of the season. Junior Cory Moheit had a pair of hits and two runs scored in the loss.
Trailing 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh, Stanley cut the lead to one with a RBI single. Two batters later, the Spiders tied the game on a wild pitch, 5-5.
Northeastern would score the game's final seven runs, however, plating a pair in the eighth and five in the ninth to pull away from the Spiders, 12-5.
The Richmond Spiders will look to win the three-game series on Sunday at Pitt Field, when the team faces Northeastern at 11 a.m.
