Track & Field Competes On Both Coasts This Weekend

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Spider track and field team will be split across two coasts this weekend as the women's team and part of the men's team compete at the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton while five members of the men's team compete at the Mt. SAC Relays in California.
The Mt. SAC Relays feature of 7,000 athletes including Olympians Ashton Eaton, Allyson Felix, Carmelita Jeter, Lashinda Demus, and Jason Richardson.
Five Spiders are slated to compete at the Mt. SAC Relays including Matthew Groff, Justin Keefe, Ryan Lee, Adam Owens and Jason Skipper.
Groff is scheduled to compete in the 1500m on Thursday. Owens will also compete on Thursday in the 3000m Steeplechase.
Keefe, Lee, and Skipper will all compete in the 5k on Friday. Skipper is seeded eighth in the event.

While some of the men are competing on the West Coast, sixteen members of the women's and nine members of the men's team will be competing at the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton.
The meet begins on Friday at 3:00 p.m. with the hammer throw and resumes at noon on Saturday with the 4x100m relay.
Janel Francis heads back to the field after a successful weekend at the Mason Invitational where she recorded a season best mark of 5.67m in the long jump.
Distance runners Kelly Bailey, Tara Hanley, Clare Mortez, Jill Prentice, and Liz Schinski ,and Molly Parsons step back onto the track after a week hiatus from competition.
