Richmond Leads At Pinehurst After Two Rounds

PINEHURST, N.C. – The University of Richmond Spiders women's golf team will take a three-stroke lead in to the third and final round of the Pinehurst Challenge on Tuesday.
The Spiders carded team rounds of 296-298 to finish the first day of competition in first place with score of 594 (+18). College of Charleston sits in second place in the 19-team tournament with a total of 597 (+21).
Leading the way for the Spiders on Monday was senior Caroline Lovette, who carded rounds of 76-71 to tie for first place after 36 holes with a score of 147 (+3). Sitting just one stroke behind her in a tie for third is classmate Courtney Rousse, who shot rounds of 75-73 to finish the first day with a 148 (+4).
Senior Tracy Martin rounded out three Spider golfers who finished the first two rounds in the top-10, shooting scores of 74-75 to sit in a tie for sixth with a total of 149 (+5).
Sophomore Eliza Breed is tied for 30th place with a score of 153 (+9), while junior Lauren Conders is tied for 36th with a total of 154 (+10).
The Richmond Spiders women's golf team will look to win two tournaments in the same season for the first time in program history on Monday, when the team will play the third and final round of the Pinehurst Challenge.
