Walker Leads Spiders At Irish Creek Collegiate

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – The University of Richmond men's golf team placed in a tie for ninth at the Irish Creek Collegiate, finishing the three-round tournament with a score of 879 (+27). No. 47-ranked North Carolina won the 17-team event with a total of 859 (+7).
Leading the way for the Spiders this weekend at the Irish Creek Collegiate was senior Daniel Walker. After shooting a first round score of 76 (+5), Walker bounced back with consecutive under par rounds, carding a second round 66 (-5) and a final round 70 (-1). Walker earned his fifth top-10 of the year, finishing in a tie for fourth place with a total of 212 (-1).
Senior Nick Austin shot a final round 72 (+1) to tie for 29th place with a score of 219 (+6), while freshman David Germann tied for 47th with a total of 224 (+11).
Rounding out Richmond's effort at the Irish Creek Collegiate, junior Jack Wilkes and freshman John David Sanderson each tied for 68th, carding 54-hole totals of 228 (+15).
The Richmond Spiders men's golf team will be back on the course April 26-28 to compete for a conference title at the Atlantic 10 Championship, to be held at Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Florida.
